Lower School (Years 7-8)

Free from the limitations of rigid testing frameworks, The Olive School delivers a dynamic and faith-rooted Integrated Curriculum for our Lower Primary learners.

Drawing on the full resources of our modern campus and a passionate team of specialist teachers, we maintain small class sizes that allow personalised instruction and meaningful engagement. Our approach encourages pupils to connect learning across subjects, equipping them with the critical thinking skills and creativity needed to solve real-world problems through a Biblical and values-based lens.

Our Integrated Curriculum nurtures learners into compassionate, responsible, and globally-minded citizens. Throughout the year, Lower Primary classes take part in dedicated Community Engagement Days—off-timetable experiences that focus on environmental stewardship, charity drives, and service projects in our local community and beyond.

Exploring Big Ideas

At the beginning of the school year, pupils embark on a two-day orientation exploring big questions about identity, purpose, and their role in the world. On the first day, learners visit the Uganda National Museum or nature reserves, where they explore the wonders of creation and reflect on humanity's role in protecting it. On the second day, they investigate pressing local issues such as clean water access, deforestation, and health challenges and brainstorm creative ways their generation can become part of the solution.

This foundational experience sets the tone for holistic learning in Primary 1 and 2. Learners continue to study core subjects like Literacy, Numeracy, Science, and Social Studies, but with strong interconnections that help them apply what they’ve learned in unfamiliar situations and real-life contexts.

Classes are conducted in a dedicated primary block on campus, supported by specialist facilities for ICT, Performing Arts, PE, and STEM learning. As learners advance to upper primary, they are gradually introduced to more subject-specialised classrooms to ease their transition into senior levels.

At The Olive School, we aim to ignite a love for learning in every child and to build strong foundations that guide them confidently into Upper Primary and the wider world beyond.
