The Library

Our School Library is a central hub of curiosity, imagination, and academic growth for pupils at The Olive School – Namugongo. Located at the heart of our campus, the library hosts vibrant storytelling sessions, reading challenges, poetry recitals, and quiet study time to inspire every learner.

Guided by dedicated Librarians and class teachers, children develop strong reading habits, research skills, and a lifelong love for books. From early picture books to themed non-fiction and Ugandan literature, our collection supports both classroom learning and creative exploration. Pupils are encouraged to borrow books, join book clubs, and contribute to seasonal reading displays throughout the year.

“At The Olive School, our library is more than shelves of books — it’s a space where imagination blossoms, reading becomes joyful, and pupils build the confidence to explore knowledge beyond the classroom. Every story shared is a step toward raising thoughtful, curious, and articulate learners.”

Our School Library

The Olive School Library is a welcoming and inspiring space where pupils can read, research, and reflect. Designed to encourage both quiet reading and collaborative learning, the library offers cozy reading corners, age-appropriate book collections, and dedicated tables for group activities and discovery.

Pupils enjoy storytime sessions, reading challenges, and weekly library visits where they borrow books, explore new topics, and develop a love for literature. The space also supports early research skills, creative writing, and class projects through guided access to digital and print resources.

We believe that every child deserves to grow up with books — and our library is a vibrant hub where stories spark curiosity and lifelong learning begins.

Upper Primary Library Zone

Our Upper Primary learners (P5 to P7) enjoy a specially designed library space that encourages focused reading and personal study. This quiet area supports pupils as they develop advanced reading habits and research skills for project work and class presentations.

The zone also includes a mini-research corner where pupils are guided on how to use age-appropriate reference materials, organize their thoughts, and grow in confidence as independent learners.

The Heritage Book Corner

Our Heritage Book Corner features a carefully selected collection of storybooks, picture books, and cultural literature that reflect Uganda’s traditions, values, and history. These special books include Ugandan folktales, biographies of African heroes, early readers in Luganda and English, and books donated by well-wishers and authors from across the region.

Children are invited to explore these unique books during Library Hour or with their class teachers during literacy lessons. Visits to the Heritage Corner are moments of discovery and pride, helping pupils appreciate where they come from and who they can become.
