Upper School Section

At The Olive School – Namugongo, we understand that every child learns at their own pace and in their own way. That’s why we offer a well-structured curriculum pathway that supports growth from Nursery through Primary Seven (P.7).

Our curriculum is guided by the National Curriculum of Uganda and enriched with child-centered approaches to promote curiosity, problem-solving, and creativity. We combine core academic subjects with enrichment in languages, values, arts, and physical education to ensure pupils are prepared both for national assessments and for life beyond primary school.

Primary Subjects Overview

"Upper Primary is a special stage in our pupils’ journey — a time to build confidence, take more responsibility, and discover a deeper love for learning. It’s also when our pupils begin to shine as leaders and role models within the school community."
Peace Mutesi, Head of Administration

At The Olive School – Namugongo, we believe that every child is unique and learns in different ways. That’s why our Upper Primary curriculum (P.5 to P.7) offers an engaging blend of academic challenge, life skills, and leadership growth.

Our teachers use learner-centered methods to support children as they build deeper subject knowledge, confidence, and independence. Learners are prepared for the Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) with a strong foundation in numeracy, literacy, science, social studies, and practical competencies.

In addition to core subjects, pupils participate in enrichment programmes like leadership training, debate, reading competitions, science fairs, and spiritual assemblies.

We guide our learners to take personal responsibility, work collaboratively, and embrace positive values through weekly mentoring, character development workshops, and peer leadership roles in class and co-curricular clubs.

As they approach transition to secondary school, pupils receive academic counselling and participate in transition planning activities to prepare for the next stage of their educational journey.
