When children join our Upper Primary section (Primary 6), they step into a dynamic learning environment designed to prepare them for their final year in primary education with confidence, maturity, and purpose.
Academically, learners begin to engage more deeply with subject-based learning, applying their skills in real-world contexts and preparing for national assessments. Pupils take on more responsibility for their own learning through collaborative projects, reading comprehension, maths investigations, and creative writing challenges.
Socially and emotionally, this is a pivotal stage. Children are encouraged to become role models for younger pupils, participate in leadership opportunities, and express themselves through sport, the arts, school clubs, and community projects — all while strengthening friendships and personal values.
Entry Process
Children applying to join our Upper Primary section (Primary 6) will be invited for a friendly assessment and classroom experience, designed to help us understand their strengths, learning style, and readiness for this final stage of primary school.
During their visit, children participate in informal tasks that may include creative writing, basic problem-solving in mathematics, reading comprehension, and group-based classroom discussions. These activities help us gain insight into how your child learns, expresses ideas, and engages with others.
There is no formal exam to prepare for, and we do not require past papers or prior tutoring. We value natural ability, curiosity, and the willingness to try new things in a learning environment that supports growth and independence.
Parents or guardians will also have an opportunity to meet with the Head of Upper Primary or a member of the Admissions Team to discuss their child’s educational journey, interests, and any specific learning needs.
We welcome children with different learning profiles and offer tailored support for pupils with special educational needs or learning differences.
We also request a brief confidential reference or report from the child's current school to help us ensure a smooth transition into our academic programme.
Talent Discovery & Enrichment
In Upper Primary (Primary 6), we recognise that children are beginning to show strong interests and aptitudes in academic subjects, sports, the arts, and leadership. While formal scholarships are introduced later, we actively nurture and celebrate talent through enrichment programmes that inspire confidence, discipline, and creativity.
Learners who demonstrate high potential in English, Mathematics, or Science receive targeted extension work, mentorship, and exam-readiness coaching in preparation for the Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE).
Children with exceptional skill in Art, Music, Sport, or Drama are encouraged to participate in exhibitions, school competitions, performances, or sports festivals. These platforms allow them to showcase their strengths while building resilience and teamwork.
Our Enrichment Pathways support well-rounded development, ensuring that every pupil is given opportunities to shine, explore their passions, and develop habits of excellence as they prepare to transition to secondary school.
Academic Pathway
In Upper Primary (Primary 6), pupils follow a structured and engaging curriculum designed to prepare them for national examinations while nurturing a love for learning. Core subjects such as English, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies are taught with increasing depth and purpose, ensuring readiness for the Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) or other equivalent milestones.
In addition to academic rigour, our learners benefit from project-based learning, collaborative group work, and interactive lessons that encourage curiosity, critical thinking, and personal responsibility.
We also offer cross-curricular activities through our enrichment sessions, integrating life skills, ICT, environmental awareness, and creative expression to develop well-rounded, confident learners.
Throughout the year, teachers work closely with each child to monitor progress, adjust learning targets, and provide individual support or extension where needed. Pupils are also guided to build study habits, resilience, and independence as they prepare to transition into secondary school.
Joining Our Community
When children join our Upper Primary section (Primary 6), they become part of a vibrant and supportive learning community that prepares them for the final steps of their primary education journey.
Our experienced teachers and school leaders provide tailored academic and pastoral support, helping pupils grow in confidence, take on greater responsibility, and build strong foundations for success in the Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) or equivalent assessments.
To ensure a smooth and positive start, new pupils are invited to a Welcome & Orientation Day before the start of term. During this event, children meet their teachers, tour the school, participate in team-building activities, and begin forming friendships with peers.
Throughout the year, class teachers and the Head of Upper Primary work closely with families to ensure each child receives personalised attention and guidance both academically and socially in preparation for the transition to secondary school.
