When pupils join our Transition Class (Primary 7), they enter a defining phase of their primary school journey one that equips them with the academic confidence and life skills needed to succeed in secondary school and beyond.
As the final year of Upper Primary, this stage offers focused preparation for the Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) or equivalent assessments, supported by a dedicated team of experienced educators who understand the importance of both achievement and well-being.
In recognition of the fact that every pupil learns differently, we provide differentiated instruction, small-group coaching, and personalised study strategies that help learners set goals, refine their strengths, and take charge of their learning.
Transition Class pupils also take on leadership roles within the school, serve as mentors to younger students, and participate in legacy projects that leave a lasting impact. It’s a time for growth, reflection, and preparing to take the next big step with courage and pride.
Entry Process
Pupils applying to join our Transition Class (Primary 7) are welcomed through a thoughtful and supportive admissions process designed to assess academic readiness while providing a smooth path into the final year of primary school.
All applicants are invited for an informal academic review, which includes short assessments in English and Mathematics, as well as a reading comprehension or writing task. These allow us to understand each child’s current level and support needs as they prepare for the Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) or an equivalent milestone.
There is no need for extensive preparation or coaching; our assessments are age-appropriate and focused on confidence-building and holistic learning. Children may also take part in a classroom observation or collaborative activity with their peers.
Parents or guardians will have the opportunity to meet with the Head of Transition Class or a senior member of staff to discuss their child’s learning journey, character development, and any specific goals or concerns.
We also request a confidential reference or report from the child’s current school, giving us insight into their academic progress, classroom conduct, and participation in school life.
Talent & Leadership Recognition
While formal scholarships are not awarded in Primary 7, we recognise and celebrate pupils who demonstrate exceptional ability, commitment, and character during their time in the Transition Class.
Outstanding learners are invited to take part in our Leadership & Excellence Programme, which provides additional mentorship and opportunities in key areas such as academics, music, art, drama, sports, and community service.
Pupils preparing for the Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) are supported through focused academic workshops, mock exam sessions, and tailored revision guidance. Those who consistently perform at a high level may be recognised at end-of-year prize-giving assemblies and graduation ceremonies.
Whether through academic performance, creativity, or service to the school, our Transition Class pupils are empowered to take initiative, build confidence, and develop the habits that will serve them well in secondary school and beyond.
Preparing for What Comes Next
As the final year of primary school, the Transition Class (Primary 7) is a time for pupils to reflect on their learning journey and prepare for the exciting transition to secondary education. During this year, children receive guidance and support to help them understand their academic strengths, study habits, and future goals.
Building Academic Confidence
Throughout Primary 7, pupils are supported in developing exam strategies, time management, and revision techniques in preparation for the Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) or equivalent assessments. These foundational skills give children the confidence they need to face academic challenges ahead.
Exploring Future Possibilities
Although subject specialisation comes later in secondary school, our Transition Class encourages pupils to think about their interests and talents. Through enrichment clubs, leadership roles, and career awareness sessions, learners begin to discover how their passions might align with future academic paths.
Each child is encouraged to take ownership of their learning, set personal targets, and participate actively in class and community life — laying the groundwork for future success in both local and international education systems.
Joining Our Community
When children join our Transition Class (Primary 7), they become part of a vibrant and supportive school community, where they are celebrated as leaders of the Primary Section and role models for younger pupils.
Our experienced teachers, pastoral team, and Head of Transition Class provide personalised guidance throughout this important year, helping each child grow in confidence, prepare for final examinations, and embrace the next chapter of their education with purpose and pride.
To ensure a smooth and engaging start, new pupils are invited to a Welcome and Orientation Day before the school term begins. This gives them an opportunity to meet their classmates and teachers, explore the school environment, and begin building meaningful friendships.
Throughout the year, pupils take on leadership responsibilities, participate in community projects, and enjoy special experiences such as retreat days, P7 trips, and graduation events that mark their growth and transition to secondary school.
