The STEM, Robotics, and Innovation programme is a cornerstone of life at The Olive School – Namugongo, designed to equip our pupils with the skills and values to excel in a technological world.
Through robotics challenges, coding labs, innovation hubs, and science clubs, pupils build critical skills such as computational thinking, creative problem-solving, digital communication, and collaborative engineering. These hands-on experiences are integrated into our weekly schedule, ensuring every child has the opportunity to explore their potential and grow in confidence.
At the heart of our programme are four guiding values: Care – for our tools, our team, and our shared digital environment; Courage to experiment, iterate, and pioneer new solutions; Contribution – dedicating our skills to advance our school and community; and Connection – building a collaborative network of young innovators and problem-solvers.
A Landmark Victory for STEM at The Olive School!
At The Olive School – Namugongo, our commitment to excellence extends from the sports field to the innovation lab. Our students' dedication was recently showcased on a national stage, where they secured top awards during the National Science Week. We are incredibly proud to celebrate their outstanding achievement, which included a prize fund of over 20 million Ugandan Shillings, a testament to their innovative spirit and problem-solving skills.
STEM and Robotics: Engineering the Future
At The Olive School – Namugongo, our STEM and Robotics programme is where theory meets creation. We provide a dynamic, hands-on environment in our purpose-built innovation lab, equipped with advanced technology where students learn to code, design, and build. From primary through secondary, all pupils are immersed in project-based learning that develops critical computational thinking, creative problem-solving, and collaborative engineering skills. This is more than a subject; it is a pathway to becoming the innovators and pioneers of tomorrow.
Our programme's success is proven on the national stage, where our students have secured top awards and a prize fund of over 20 million Ugandan Shillings during the National Science Week. We are committed to nurturing the talent that will shape the future.
Why Choose Us for STEM and Robotics?
At The Olive School – Namugongo, we believe the greatest innovations are born from a spirit of adventure. Our STEM and Robotics programme is not confined to the lab; it is an expedition into the future. We combine cutting-edge facilities with an adventurous learning philosophy. Our students don't just follow instructions—they embrace challenges. They learn to lead teams through complex robotics competitions, persevere through iterative design cycles, and explore the frontiers of technology with courage and curiosity.
This approach delivers proven results. Our learners are the national award-winners, recognized for their innovative solutions with accolades like our 20M+ National Science Week victory. We don't just teach robotics; we cultivate the resilient, problem-solving pioneers who will build a better world.
International STEM & Robotics Tour: South Africa
Our international trips are designed to push the boundaries of learning, and our STEM and Robotics tour to South Africa stands as a premier example. This journey is more than a tour; it is a competitive and collaborative expedition that places our young innovators on a global stage. In South Africa, our students have the unique opportunity to connect with leading tech hubs, participate in international robotics workshops, and test their skills against some of the best young minds in the region. This immersive experience provides unparalleled real-world context for their classroom knowledge, fostering global connections and a deeper appreciation for technological innovation.
The success of this tour is measured in more than just miles traveled it is measured in trophies won and excellence recognized. Our students have consistently returned not only with broadened horizons but also with a remarkable collection of awards, cementing our reputation for nurturing world-class talent in STEM and robotics.
Robotics & Innovation Guild
Within our Robotics & Innovation Guild, pupils embody our values of Courage and Collaboration. This dynamic society meets in our state-of-the-art lab to tackle complex robotics challenges, from programming autonomous vehicles to designing robots for national competitions. It is the core training ground where our future champions develop the resilient and innovative mindset that has secured top awards on both national and international stages.
Young Pioneers Engineering Society
The Young Pioneers Society is where creative ideas become real-world solutions, fostering a spirit of Contribution and Connection. Pupils work in teams on pioneering projects—from building sustainable energy models to advanced aerospace prototypes—applying their STEM knowledge to make a positive impact. This hands-on approach cultivates the exceptional problem-solving skills that have led our pupils to prestigious victories and prize-winning recognition in national science fairs.
Introducing The Olive Waves Radio
At The Olive School, we love to explore new ideas — and now we’re excited to launch something truly special: The Olive Waves Radio!
This brand-new project will be created by our pupils, for our pupils. Through The Olive Waves Radio, children will plan, record, and share their own shows — from fun interviews and music to stories, jokes, and school news.
Just like in our Robotics & Innovation Guild, where pupils show Courage and Collaboration, our young broadcasters will learn to work together, speak confidently, and share their voices proudly with the whole school community.
The Olive Waves Radio will help our pupils build new skills, grow their creativity, and celebrate everything that makes The Olive School such a brilliant place to learn and belong.
Together, we’ll tune in, turn up the courage, and let our Olive voices shine!
