When children join The Olive School – Namugongo from overseas, they become part of a warm, nurturing community where diversity is embraced and every learner is celebrated.
Our school welcomes international families from across Africa and beyond, creating a truly inclusive environment where pupils learn from one another, grow in confidence, and build lifelong friendships.
We’ve prepared a helpful guide for international parents that includes details about admissions, school life, support for language development, and settling into life in Uganda. If you're considering a place for your child, we warmly invite you to explore these resources and reach out with any questions.

International Entry Process
International families applying to join The Olive School – Namugongo are warmly guided through a simple and friendly admissions process, designed to help us understand each child’s needs and ensure a smooth transition into our learning community.
Assessments are informal and age-appropriate, typically involving basic English and numeracy tasks, as well as a short reading or storytelling activity. These can be completed in person at the school or remotely, depending on the family’s location.
We are happy to arrange online interviews via video call to get to know your child better and answer any questions you may have about life at The Olive School. These conversations also give us a chance to understand your child’s interests, personality, and educational background.
We kindly request copies of the two most recent school reports or progress summaries from your child’s current or previous school to help us build a full picture of their learning journey so far.
We accept applications throughout the year, and admission is offered subject to the availability of spaces in the appropriate year group.
Joining Our Community
When international pupils join The Olive School – Namugongo, they become part of a vibrant and inclusive learning community. From the very first day, children are welcomed into caring classrooms, supported by experienced teachers, and encouraged to build friendships and confidence through a rich variety of learning and play experiences.
To help ease the transition, we offer an Online Welcome Session for international families, where parents and children can meet our staff and get an overview of school life before arriving. Once in Uganda, children attend a special Induction Week at the start of term — filled with fun activities, classroom discovery, and guided social time to help them settle in smoothly and feel at home.
We ensure every child is matched with a buddy and is supported personally by their class teacher and the Head of Section, helping them thrive both socially and academically.
