Champions at National Science Week: A 20 Million Triumph!

Champions at National Science Week: A 20 Million Triumph!

Our students' exceptional talent and innovative spirit were on full display at the recent National Science Week, where The Olive School – Namugongo emerged as a dominant force. Through groundbreaking projects and cutting-edge research, our young scientists and engineers secured multiple prestigious awards and an impressive prize fund of 20 million Ugandan Shillings.

This remarkable achievement reflects our school's deep commitment to excellence in STEM education. The winning projects—ranging from sustainable technology solutions to advanced robotics prototypes—showcased the creativity, problem-solving skills, and collaborative spirit we nurture in every pupil.

The trip was more than a competition; it was a celebration of curiosity and perseverance. Our students connected with national leaders in science and technology, gained invaluable experience presenting their work on a national platform, and returned home as inspired ambassadors for innovation.

We are immensely proud of our champions and their dedicated mentors. This victory not only highlights their extraordinary capabilities but also reinforces our position as a leading institution for STEM education in Uganda

Language Immersion

Language Immersion

At The Olive School – Namugongo, we believe that mastering a language goes beyond the classroom. Our language programmes encourage pupils to immerse themselves in local and regional cultures by participating in trips, cultural exchange visits, and language camps within Uganda and neighbouring East African countries. Whether learning Luganda, Kiswahili, French, or Arabic, pupils experience real-life conversations, traditions, and customs that bring their language skills to life.

Early Years Trips: Discovering Our World

Early Years Trips: Discovering Our World

In the Early Years at The Olive School – Namugongo, we believe a child’s first steps into learning should be filled with wonder, discovery, and real-world connection. Our carefully curated trips are designed to extend classroom learning beyond its walls, transforming our local community into a vibrant, interactive classroom.

These formative journeys are fundamental to our holistic approach, providing hands-on experiences that make learning tangible and unforgettable. From exploring the vibrant stalls of a local market to understanding community roles at a police station, each outing is a building block for knowledge.

Our young explorers enjoy a diverse range of visits, including:

  • Local Supermarkets: Where they learn about different food groups, practice counting and sorting, and understand the journey of food from farm to table.

  • Community Police Stations: Where they meet local safety heroes, learn about community helpers, and understand the importance of rules and safety in a fun, engaging way.

  • Vibrant Local Markets: Where their senses come alive, exploring colours, textures, and sounds while learning about local commerce, produce, and Ugandan culture.

These adventures do more than just expose children to new environments; they actively build foundational skills. Pupils develop their vocabulary, enhance social confidence through interactions, and begin to grasp their place within a wider community. Each trip is thoughtfully integrated into our termly topics, ensuring that these experiences enrich their understanding of the world and lay a solid foundation for their future academic and personal journey at The Olive School.

Stem & Robotics Trip To South Africa

Stem & Robotics Trip To South Africa

Our international programmes are designed to turn learning into an adventure, and our STEM and Robotics expedition to South Africa stands as a testament to this mission. This journey is far more than a tour; it is a platform where our pupils' classroom knowledge meets global challenge, resulting in extraordinary success.

In South Africa, our young innovators were immersed in a dynamic environment of technological competition and collaboration. They connected with leading tech institutions, participated in intensive workshops on advanced robotics, and put their skills to the ultimate test against top teams from across the continent.

The outcome was nothing short of remarkable. Our pupils demonstrated the Courage to compete at the highest level and the collaborative spirit that defines our school. Their innovative solutions and exceptional engineering did not just compete—they dominated, earning us a prestigious collection of awards and cementing our reputation for excellence in STEM education on an international stage.

This trip provided more than just memories; it provided undeniable proof that at The Olive School, we don't just teach science and technology—we build champions.
